The Silk Road School at Renmin University of China, leveraging the university's disciplinary strengths in the humanities and social sciences and its experience in international education, particularly the global networks and resources of the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China (RDCY), integrates world-class educational resources and brings together global political leaders, business elites, and distinguished scholars. Focusing on the study of Chinese politics, this program offers a comprehensive training system that combines core courses, field-based study programs, lectures by renowned experts, high-level forums, and cultural immersion. It is dedicated to cultivating international interdisciplinary high-level professionals and future elite leaders from countries and regions along the Belt and Road who appreciate China, understand China’s development path, and are well versed in Chinese history, culture, and the modernization of national governance, thereby contributing to exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations and to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. In May 2025, the Silk Road School of Renmin University of China was formally integrated into the overall framework of the School of Global Leadership.

Part 1
Basic Information
Q: What kind of program is this?
A: This is a two-year, full-time English-taught Master’s program, Contemporary Chinese Studies, dedicated to cultivating future global leaders with a comprehensive understanding of China’s development path. The program features an integrated and practice-oriented curriculum, combining rigorous academic coursework, field-based research and study visits, lectures by leading experts, high-level forums, and immersive cultural experiences, with a particular focus on China’s political development

A: Academically, you have the opportunity to collaborate with leading scholars from Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China (RDCY), a national-level think tank. Application Qualifications
Q: What are the basic requirements for applying to this program?
A:
1)NOT have Chinese nationality; Hold a valid ordinary passport;
2)Be physically and mentally healthy; Be friendly to China; Not have criminal record;
3)Have acquired a bachelor degree or above;
4)Have a good command of English: a valid IELTS Academic overall score of 6.0 or above, or a valid TOEFL iBT overall score of 90 or above. Applicants who are native English speakers, or who have completed or are pursuing a degree where the medium of instruction is English, are not required to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores.
5)Be subject to the additional nationality regulations of the Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China.
Q: I will graduate with my bachelor's degree this year and haven't received my diploma yet. Can I still apply?
A: Yes. Applicants who are in their final year of study should initially provide an official Certificate of Expected Graduation (the expected date of graduation must be no later than August 31, 2026), and must submit the formal academic documents prior to enrollment.
Q: I am of Chinese descent, but I was born abroad and hold a foreign passport. Can I apply?
A: Yes. According to regulations, an applicant whose parents (or one parent) are Chinese citizens and settled abroad, and who was born as a foreign national, and has held the foreign nationality for at least 4 years, and does not possess Chinese nationality, can apply as an international student.

Application Process and Timeline
Q: What is the application deadline and application path?
A: The online application system will close on May 31, 2026. Applicants should access the Renmin University of China International Student Application System via:
http://international.ruc.edu.cn/application. First-time users are required to complete registration prior to application. Each email address and passport number may be registered only once. The registered email address and password will serve as the applicant’s exclusive credentials for application submission and status tracking.
Q: What is the application fee? How do I pay it? Is it refundable?
A: The application fee is RMB 800. After completing the online application form, please pay the fee using the online payment function within the system. Once the application fee is paid, it is non-refundableregardless of the application outcome.
Q: When will I know the admission result?
A: Admission notifications will be released starting from March 2026 and continue until July, via the application system or email. Please stay tuned.

Q: What are the main courses of the program?
A: The core curriculum includes (subject to actual situation): Overview of China's Development, China Politics, Contemporary Chinese Economy, Seminar on China Studies, Seminar on Belt and Road Initiative, Contemporary Chinese Foreign Policy, Methodologies in Social Science, Contemporary Chinese Society, Chinese Language, etc.
Q: Are there scholarship opportunities for the program?
A: Yes, the program provides multiple scholarship opportunities, including scholarships at the school level, university level, and the Beijing Municipality level.
Q: What catering services does the university provide? Is there a wide variety of dining options?
A: Yes, the university provides a rich and diverse dining environment for students. Multiple student canteens and a Halal restaurant are available to meet daily dining needs. Beyond basic meal services, the campus also hosts a wide selection of popular specialty restaurants, offering diverse cuisines and creating vibrant spaces for dining and social interaction.
Q: How are the medical and health services at the university? Is it convenient to see a doctor?
A: The university operates an on-campus hospital that provides basic medical services for students. In most cases, students can access these services by presenting their campus ID card and passport.In addition, several well-equipped comprehensive hospitals are located in close proximity to the campus, including Haidian Hospital and Peking University Third Hospital, offering advanced diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions.
Q: Do I need to buy insurance?
